Rachel McKenna


 

Biography

Rachel McKenna is a multimedia 3D artist who works across and in between the disciplines of art, craft, and design. Her professional practice explores material potential, material change, and the act of making within the creative process. A life-long educator, Rachel has worked and taught at the University of Oregon, Oregon State University, Lewis and Clark College, and the Chisel Creative Studio School. She has given professional lectures and critiques at the Pacific Northwest College of Art Hallie Ford School of Graduate Studies, Portland Community College, Lewis and Clark College.

Rachel received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University, and her Master of Fine Arts from the Pacific Northwest College of Art. Her work has been featured in galleries across the country, including PDX Contemporary, the Ala Moana Center, and the Rhode Island School of Design. She has completed Artist Residencies including the funded Golden Spot Residency at East Creek Ceramics and the Featured Emerging Artist at Collect Young 2020. She founded and directed Chisel Creative Studio School, a custom furniture design and woodworking studio focused on supporting women-identified, non-binary, and other underrepresented communities in furniture design and woodworking.
