Motion Artifact

When a drop from a waterfall hits stone, will it fall right or left? What forces decide its flow? Does water remember?

Motion in Artifact is an ongoing series of sculptural events that explore material interaction, transformation, and energy through a novel process of casting a mixture of glass and molten wax over ice. Wax and frozen water, ice, have a perfect phase-change relationship. It is a collision of forces. As the liquid mixture travels through the blocks of ice, it solidifies. The ice melts away. The process reveals a tangible object as record of its movement, flow, and physical change.
