This image was carved freehand with a 6” orbital sander. Plywood has multiple layers, each with a different coloration and grain pattern. In sanding through the top layers, you can create a 3D image.

The stripes you see are the natural coloring of the wood. Each side is made of two pieces of poplar, with dark sections running down the middle of each piece.

Each cube can be rotated to be either 16” or 18” high, and used as stools, end table, or bunching coffee tables

This project was commissioned by a family with two young boys very high on the growth curve (shown here). The two beds can be attached as bunk beds (as shown), with custom hidden connections, and, later separated into two individual queen-sized beds.
